 ABOUT DORA VICENTE

I was born in Lisbon, Portugal. I was interested in Arts and crafts in a very early age. I graduated in  Painting  at  Faculty of Fine Arts, University  of  Lisbon. Even thou I started studying ballet as a child, a practice I continued until I was an adult, the  passion for dance came later, and with it the  interest  in learning how the human body functions and it's connections  to both the psychological  and
emotional sides. I resumed my studies in dance at C.E.M. and at Forum Dança, in  Lisbon, where I had training in contemporary dance, contact-improvisation, ballet, butoh, voice and  anatomy.
My first approach to Fasciatherapy happened in a "Perception  and  Conscience  of  the Movement" class, taught by Howard Sonenklar in the year 2000. This  work proved to be fascinating,  because of the
constant discovery  of new  aspects in myself and other people, which led me to want to work with people, to be able to share this way of being and living.
I did a postgraduate degree in Fasciatherapy/Somatology  at  EAN (School for Advanced Naturology Studies) and the  Intensive course  "Touching Life Within" with Danis Bois, in New York in 2006. I became Howard Sonenklar's assistant teacher and then started working by myself.
In 2011 I took the "Dance in the Community" course at Forum Dança, a  course directed towards the dance pedagogy and artistic creation with the community.
I taught Visual Arts and Dance in  Public schools. I also worked on artistic and social intervention projects and  with children and young people and led dance and visual arts workshops for all ages. In  2012/13 I lived in the Netherlands, where I worked at Studio Anna Mora (Amsterdam) and Studio Moesstraat (Groningen).
Currently, I divide my time between Fasciatherapy  (as therapist  and trainer) and Arts  (as a performer/creator
and a teacher).
